Buy and sell the Falchion Knife in CS2
The Falchion Knife is Valve's reading of the medieval falchion: a short, hard-curved clip-point blade on a plain handle, with no finger ring and no sawback. Its draw and inspect are a one-handed forward flip that throws the blade over and catches it back in the palm, quicker than the plain swing of a Gut Knife, and there is a second, rarer inspect on top of the standard one. Damage, speed and hitbox are identical to every other knife in the game, so the entire decision is animation and finish. A Falchion Knife bought in CS:GO remains the same item in CS2, but with updated rendering. Inside the CS2 knife catalogue the Falchion sits at the accessible end of the gold tier. The same finish on a Butterfly Knife or a Karambit asks a good deal more, which is why the Falchion Knife CS2 listings are full of first knives and StatTrak experiments.
One label is worth clearing up before you read the cards above. Knives are not Covert items: they occupy the rare special item slot, the gold star that stands above the Covert weapons of the same case. However, Steam labels the base item a Covert Knife and each listing repeats that tag, so the star, not the tag, is the rarity you are paying for.
All Falchion Knife skins, grouped by the case they came from
The finish library falls into three blocks. Knowing which block a finish belongs to tells you which case to open for it and which trade-up pool it lives in.
- Original finishes - Blue Steel, Boreal Forest, Case Hardened, Crimson Web, Fade, Forest DDPAT, Night, Safari Mesh, Scorched, Slaughter, Stained and Urban Masked. They arrived with the model itself, in the Falchion Case, which is still the only case that carries them.
- Chroma finishes - Damascus Steel, Doppler, Marble Fade, Rust Coat, Tiger Tooth and Ultraviolet. These were bolted onto the model later, through the Spectrum Case and the Spectrum 2 Case.
- Gamma finishes - Autotronic, Black Laminate, Bright Water, Freehand, Gamma Doppler and Lore, from the Operation Riptide Case and the Dreams & Nightmares Case.
Every finish has a StatTrak twin, and the bare unpainted blade exists as its own item. Mixing the blocks up is the most common mistake in Falchion listings and guides: Rust Coat may look like plain camo work but it belongs to the Chroma block, so it never came out of the Falchion Case.
Doppler and Gamma Doppler: the phase decides
Both gradient finishes come in numbered phases plus a set of rare ones, and the phase is set the moment the item is created — it is part of the name, not something you switch afterwards. Doppler runs Phase 1 through Phase 4 and adds Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl. Gamma Doppler runs its own Phase 1 through Phase 4 and adds Emerald. Emerald is a Gamma Doppler phase, not a Doppler one, and that single confusion is behind most mispriced listings and mistaken searches. Among the numbered phases, Doppler Phase 2 is the pink one and carries its own premium, while Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl trade in a different league from anything numbered. Set the Phase filter above rather than reading blade colour off a thumbnail.
Pattern: the same finish, a different knife
Some finishes are decided by a hidden pattern index rather than by the finish name. Case Hardened is the obvious one: the seed decides where blue, gold and purple land, most blades come out gold-heavy, and the blue-dominant seeds - blue gems - are tracked by the community in tier lists, with seed 494 sitting at the top for this model. Judge the play side first, the face you actually see in game; the Falchion's broad, curved blade shows a seed clearly, which cuts both ways. Marble Fade hides a lottery of its own, where red and blue meeting cleanly at the tip is the Fire and Ice arrangement collectors chase, and Crimson Web depends on how many webs land on the play side and how well centred they are. The Pattern filter above takes the seed straight, so hunting a specific one does not mean scrolling.
Float, exterior and Fade coverage
Float sets the exterior, and on a curved glossy blade wear turns up along the spine and the belly before anywhere else. Low float earns its premium on gradient and polished finishes; on dark camo work the step from Minimal Wear to Field-Tested is easy to miss and easy to save on. Not every finish spans the whole scale either - Slaughter, for one, does not exist beyond Field-Tested. On Fade there is a second axis: how much of the blade the gradient actually reaches. The Fade filter above lets you set a percentage range. All three values sit on the card, so it pays to check them before sorting by price.
Getting one: case, contract or listing
Three routes, and they are not equally aimable. Opening cases is the lottery, and the rare special item slot is shared: a Spectrum or Riptide key can just as easily hand you a Bowie Knife, a Huntsman Knife, Shadow Daggers or a Butterfly Knife as a Falchion. The Trade Up Contract is the newer route: Covert skins from a single collection return a random rare special item from that collection's pool, and StatTrak inputs return a StatTrak knife. Feeding it Coverts from the Falchion collection is the one way to make the model itself certain, because the Falchion is the only knife in that pool - the finish still comes out random. Buying from the listings above is the only route where the finish, the phase, the seed and the float are all your choice.

FAQ
Does a Falchion Knife give anu advantage in a round?
No. Knife damage, movement speed and hitbox are identical across every model and every finish. You are paying for the animation and appearance, not an in-game advantage.
Can I choose the exact float, phase and pattern?
Yes. Each listing is one specific item with its own float, phase and seed printed on the card, and the filters above let you narrow the results by all three before you commit. That is the practical difference between buying a knife and opening a case for one.
Is there a Falchion Knife with no finish at all?
Yes, the bare steel version, known in the community as Vanilla and listed as Not Painted. It has no finish, no float and no exterior, it exists in StatTrak too, and it is priced purely on the blade shape.
Can StatTrak be added to a knife later?
No. StatTrak is baked in when the item is created, so a StatTrak Falchion and a regular one are two separate items, not one item with a switch. Every finish exists in both versions, including the unpainted blade.
Does the Falchion still come out of cases?
Yes. It still sits in the rare special item slot of the cases listed above, though several of those cases have left the active drop rotation, which means the case itself is now something you buy rather than earn.
Is a P2P purchase safe?
It is, as long as the deal stays on the platform: you sign in through Steam, your money sits on your balance until the trade closes, and the seller is paid only once the trade is completed. Stepping outside the platform and swapping directly with a stranger is where scams live.
